Pure white vs off-white
Pure-white backgrounds (#FFFFFF) cut cleanest. Off-white or warm-toned backgrounds (#FAFAF0, etc.) work too, but the AI may treat slight colour variation as part of the subject — adjust the threshold if needed.
Watch out for white-on-white
A white shirt on a white wall is the hardest case. The AI may cut off part of the shirt. Use the birefnet model and crank the foreground threshold up to 250 in advanced settings.
Drop shadows look weird
Drop shadows on white usually get partially removed, leaving a faint grey smear. Either remove them in your editor before upload, or accept that they go entirely.
Verify transparency by opening in browser
After download, drag the PNG onto a browser window. If the previously-white background is now transparent, the page colour will show through. This is the easiest way to verify alpha is correct.

Will drop shadows be preserved?
